Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts have been a part of the Odin community for many years. In the 1980’s, the Odin Girl Scouts program included the World of the Outdoors, the World of the Arts, the World of Today & Tomorrow, the World of People, and the World of Well-Being.

Using these guidelines the girls were able to learn about their own community and provide service to the citizens of Odin. The girls have participated with the residents of the Odin Care Center, had clean-up projects and planted flowers in public places for all to enjoy.

Currently, Odin has two active Girl Scout Troops for girls in the 4th-8th grades. Those who do not have a troop available are participating with troops in nearby communities or as independent Girl Scouts.

Joining with the Girl Scouts from the E. Marion County Service Unit of Girl Scouts of Shagbark Council, all of the Odin Girl Scouts are experiencing new and exciting opportunities. The new Girl Scout Journeys program will help each girl to explore her own unique pathway as she matures.

As we look to the future, the new Girl Scouts of southern Illinois will provide many wonderful opportunities. The Odin Community will continue to benefit from the presence of Girl Scouts.
